The Strays Supported by The Lucettas and Dayzies
Had the pleasure of seeing the strays headline a massive night at the Globe Newcastle. The support acts were amazing, Liam Parker from the Dayzies has to be the stand out performance of all the supporting acts. The Lucettas came from Essex and rocked the place! Proper cool lads The Lucettas, hope to see you lads up ‘ere again soon! Strays phenomenal as always, really controlling the crowd now I can see their shows just getting bigger and bigger. From the start of the night I enjoyed myself with The Globe being a lovely venue; this paired with the Eurovision Final Fan Park inside The Centre for Life made the entire area electric. £10 entry on the door, the lad from @openbeatuk on the door was canny. A nice friendly face for the venue and the event is always good craic. Reasonably priced beers in there and a salsa class was on upstairs, seems a very diverse venue. The crowd started filling in slowly and then Liam Parker took to the stage for his acoustic set which sent goosebumps across the crowd, a truly melodic and easy listening set perfect to kick off the night. Had a smoke with Liam before the show he’s a good, funny lad. All the makings of a rockstar. Didn’t get to spend much time with The Lucettas, I thought they were headlining on the night it seemed they relinquished that spot to hometown heroes - The Strays - All in all Lucettas put on a solid show and I bet they are well happy with the northernmost leg of their tour. That tour culminates on the 20th May down in Southampton at The Joiners.
Now onto the main course; the strays. Lads I have had the pleasure of seeing - rehearse, tour, change and grow into the band you would be lucky to see before they're fucking massive. I have seen Aidan drum since schooldays and he amazes me every time. I’ve had Kieran strumming a guitar around me for years, never quite understood. Now I do. Don’t forget about Barns, frontman extraordinaire, every show his grip on the fans gets stronger and the fact is this band is massively on the up. Get on the train today because it’s leaving the station.
